Description of Watercolor of anatomical heart dissection.

Watercolor anatomical heart and it’s structures

This painting of an anatomical heart displays inner structures such as valves, atria, ventricles and major vessels.

I actually painted this piece to gift to a great EP cardiologist I work with a lot. This painting shows the actual structures that we focus on doing atrial fibrillation, super ventricular and ventricular tachycardia ablations with this doctor. We work on the electrical parts of the heart that cause these arrhythmias.

I used the blues and greens to emphasize all the various shades of reds and yellows. He told me he has it hanging in his office. It was great getting to work with the more vibrant colors that I don’t usually use in my landscapes.

I absolutely love learning about the heart and how it works. My husband and I lost our first child to HLHS (a lethal heart defect) when he was 27 days old and I lost my mother very suddenly to heart disease when she was only 53 years old.  I think the way the heart is formed while in utero and grows into this amazing structure that has the ability to beat on it’s own is amazing and miraculous.
